Yet ANOTHER hobby?!

My husband will put me away in a mental hospital if I take on yet another hobby, but what can I say?  I LOVE to make things. I once heard a little saying that 'Hobbies, cheaper than therapy'.  To bad for him I do both, LOL.  Seriously, I wanted to make my mom a little something for her birthday.  She is one of those who loves getting presents, and ones that are made too.  (Luckily for me!).

So, my sweet friend Jenny #1 (I have two friends named Jenny, so I nick name them #1 and #2), knows how to make beaded jewelry and offered her assistance.  I knew what I wanted to make, but as often is the case, I can't verbalize my thoughts.  So, off we go to the bead shop, which decided it wanted to be closed on Monday's, the nerve :)  Ok, plan B, off to Michael's for supplies.  Lucky for me, most of their stuff was on sale.  I find a bracelet sorta how I wanted, but I wanted a watch with a few charms hanging off of them. Jenny gets my drift and loads my basket up with things I need.

After a brief introduction to beading, crimping, etc she helps me string my first side and it looked so great!  She leaves me to do the other side myself and heads to the grocery store.  Of course I ran out of some supplies, so back to Michael's, where I decide to get stuff to make a 2nd watch.  I mean, 1/2 an hour to complete, who can beat that instant gratification?!

So, here it my final watch.  I'm pretty sure my mom won't be reading this blog before her bday, and if she does, oh well, here ya go mommy!  Love you and happy birthday.

What I'm working on...

Well, as my 3, make that 4, followers know :), I LOVE trying to make new things.  Unfortunately for my husband, that doesn't include new meals.  I really don't like cooking.  I've realized though, the reason is that I'm a social girl by nature, and when I cook, and clean in the kitchen, I'm pretty much all by myself for an hour or more.  It's lonely and I just don't like doing it.

It's not that I'm not a good cook, I cook pretty well, I come from a great line of Cajun cooks, so it is inherently in my blood.  It's just, well, there are just SO many other things I'd rather be doing, like making these sweet flowers!! Aren't they shabby and fabulous?  I'll call them 'Shabulous'!  Very time consuming, but I have that in spades, right?!

If you take a peak at this 'Shabulous' blog, you will see where I got the inspiration and the pattern for them. www.distinctdesign.blogspot.com

I love to make little accessories, and this is my newest.  I'm hoping to get better and better with them, so I can maybe make a couple of buck off them to buy more fabric to make more.  Yet, another thing for me to obsess about, and keep me from cooking dinner.

Well, so much for now.  I hope all you mom's have a FABULOUS weekend.  After all, it's Mother's Day WEEKEND, enjoy it and make those kids and spouses treat you like the Queen's you all are!

Lot's of Shabulous love!

Day One

Ok, so, like the rest of the world out there, I thought, 'Hey, maybe I should start a blog'.  Thing is, you see, this is my THIRD attempt to set up a blog.  I have had two in the past that I never got past the initial set up part.  I blame it on my creative ADHD.

I have thought in the past to have a blog because we are a military family and I thought it would be a good idea to post what we have been up to, but, I am notorious for wanting to do too many things and not doing any of them at the same time. So, why am I forging ahead now?  Well, I have started my own little business called Blue Room Creations (www.blueroomcreations.com), and thought that there might be to linking a business to a blog.  I mean, what other reason would millions of other be doing the same thing?

Ok, well, here I write, not really knowing what this entire blog will be about, other than sharing my life and things I learn along my journey, oh, and of course about my business and it's stages of life.

Today I share with you this:  I found an awesome website that offers free, absolutely DARLING shabby images for blogs.  In fact, my background and header (minus the wording, I actually did that *patting myself on my back) came from her site.  Isn't it so cute?  She has tons of things for you to use.  So, I'd like to say thank you to:  www.shabbyblogsblog.blogspot.com.  She's amazingly generous!  Check her out.

Well, that's all for now.  Not bad for my first day.  Tomorrow I will post my triumphs and failure on a new project.  I'm hoping to master it soon and share the frustrations and successes with it!

Not so shabby I'd say!
